decoys like curves::photos by lee gribbon

decoys like curves is a photoblog by New Zealand photographer Lee Gribbon. According to his blog Lee currently lives in Japan. Lee shoots many of his photographs in a dark - almost gritty - high contrast style. There are both a selection of beautiful portrait shots as well as urban cityscape and landscapephotographs as well.

When he does reveal one of his color exposures they blossom with vibrant tones and rich textures. Lee is a master of capturing the feel of a place and a moment at the same time. Some of my favorite of Lees color photographs include this photo of a shark collage and this photo of, well, I'm not sure exactly.

Lee hails from a very diverse background including - again from his webpage - "equal measures of Thai, Chinese, English and South African, shaken and stirred vigorously." This type of rich cultural background is clearly present in the wide variety of subjects he chooses to focus his lens on.

If you enjoy browsing photoblogs and the like I highly encourage you to check out Lee's offerings. He has a wide palette and a clean style that leaves you feeling refreshed - even if the journey has been dark at times.
